SEO questions, answered straight
These are the questions business owners actually ask before hiring an SEO agency, answered without hedging. Where a claim can be sourced, this page names the source. Where it could not be, the claim was cut rather than softened, which is why this version is shorter on impressive numbers than the one it replaces. Several answers say plainly what they used to say and why it was wrong.

In one paragraph
This is the FAQ for SEO Elite Agency, a founder-led SEO, GEO and AEO agency in Naples, Florida, established in 2025. It answers what SEO costs, how long it takes, how results are measured, and what the agency refuses to promise. Engagements typically run $1,200 to $3,500 a month, work month-to-month, and open with a free audit.

What is SEO and how does it work?
SEO is the work of making your site the best available answer to a search, so Google ranks it higher. Google weighs many signals: how fast the page loads, how well it matches what the searcher wanted, whether credible sites link to it, and whether your business details are consistent across the web. It is not a one-time fix.
The useful way to think about it is closing a gap rather than flipping a switch. Somebody already ranks above you, and they rank because their signals are stronger on the dimensions Google weighs. The work is finding which of those dimensions you are losing on, then closing them in the order that pays back soonest. That order is most of why timelines feel unpredictable to owners, and it is why a plan written after reading your site beats a package bought before anyone looked at it.
The honest part is that the pieces run on different clocks. Technical repairs can move things within weeks, because you are removing something that was actively holding the site down. Content and authority take months, because you are earning a position somebody else currently occupies and they are not going to hand it over. Anyone who tells you those two run on the same schedule is selling you the fast one and billing for the slow one.
None of it is secret, and that is worth saying out loud in a category that profits from mystique. There is no hidden lever, and a larger invoice does not unlock one. What a larger budget buys is more hours, and more senior hours, pointed at a harder problem. If an agency cannot explain what it is doing this month in language you understand, that is not sophistication.

How much does SEO cost, and do you sell packages?
Our engagements typically run $1,200 to $3,500 a month, scaled to competition and scope, with competitive verticals and multi-location work starting higher. We do not sell fixed tiers. We quote after a free audit and never before, because a price named before anyone has read your site is a guess with a number attached to it.
This answer is a correction, and it is a large one. The previous version of this page advertised four named tiers at fixed monthly prices, starting at $1,200. That is not how we price, and it contradicts our own pricing page, which says it in terms: we do not sell Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers, because a fixed price is either too high for a simple site or too low to do a hard one properly. The tiers are gone, and the floor is $1,500.
What actually moves a quote is scope: how contested your keywords are, how much technical debt the site is carrying, how many locations need their own pages, and whether you are chasing the map pack, national organic and AI citation at once or just one of them. Those are things the audit measures. The size of the prioritized list it produces is what a fair number is built on, and you see that list before you spend anything.
For market context rather than as our own rate, the most common retainer bands among US, UK and Australian providers run from $1,001 to $5,000 a month (Backlinko, 2026). Our range sits inside that, which is unremarkable and is meant to be. The number worth interrogating is not whether an agency is expensive but whether it can tell you what the money buys this month.

How do you measure results, and what will you not promise?
We will not promise a ranking. Nobody controls Google, and our terms say plainly that we do not guarantee specific results such as first-page rankings, traffic increases, or sales performance. What we commit to is measurement you can audit yourself, in accounts you own, tied to leads and revenue rather than screenshots.
The rule that makes the rest work is that you own the accounts. Your Google Analytics property, your Search Console, your call tracking and your CRM should be created under your email with us granted access, never the reverse. That one arrangement is what makes every number checkable: you can open Search Console yourself and see the same clicks the report claims, instead of accepting a screenshot on faith. An agency that sets these up under its own login and will not transfer them is holding your history hostage.
The previous version of this page went further and said every metric comes only from Search Console. That was tidier than the truth, so it is corrected here. Search Console is the closest thing to ground truth for organic clicks, impressions and queries, but it stops at the click. GA4 measures what happens on your site, call tracking catches the phone calls a form never records, and rank trackers only ever estimate position. No single tool sees the whole picture, and our reporting page sets out which tool answers which question.
What we report against is outcomes: organic-attributed calls, form fills and revenue, with keyword and map-pack movement as leading indicators rather than the headline. A first-place position on a phrase nobody buys from is not a result, and we would rather tell you that than put it on a slide. The reporting also carries its own caveats out loud, because a report whose numbers only ever rise is a sales document.

What is technical SEO, and why does it come first?
Technical SEO is fixing the infrastructure so engines can crawl, index and render your pages, regardless of how good the content is. A page that cannot be crawled cannot rank, so it goes first. It is also where the payback is fastest, because you are removing something that was actively suppressing the site rather than building something new.
The faults are unglamorous and that is exactly why they survive. A robots.txt rule or a stray noindex tag left on a live page after a redesign. Redirect chains quietly bleeding authority. Duplicate content splitting equity across URL variants nobody knew existed. Core Web Vitals failing on the phones your customers actually use. None of it is interesting, and all of it caps what any amount of content spending can achieve, which is why content layered on top of an unfixed technical problem is the most expensive way to run a campaign.
The newer reason it matters is AI. AI crawlers read raw HTML and do not execute JavaScript, so anything that only appears after a script runs is invisible to the engines your buyers increasingly ask (Vercel, 2024). A site rendered entirely on the client can look perfectly good to you and be effectively blank to the systems now summarizing your market. Our technical SEO page covers the full scope of that work.
The previous version of this answer claimed we routinely find a large share of a site's pages excluded from Google's index without the owner's knowledge, and put a precise range on it. We have no published measurement behind that range, so it is gone. The honest version costs us nothing: indexation gaps are common, they are worth checking first, and your own Search Console coverage report will tell you the truth about your site in about a minute without hiring anybody.

How does the Google map pack work?
The map pack is the block of business listings above the organic results, and it is driven by your Google Business Profile more than by your website. Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and popularity: how well the profile matches the search, how close the business is to the searcher, and how well known it is (Google).
Only two of those three are things you can move, which is the part most local pitches skip. Distance is fixed. You are where you are, and the shortcut people reach for, a fabricated address nearer the city center, gets the profile suspended rather than ranked. Relevance is category accuracy, complete services, and a profile that genuinely matches what was searched. Popularity, which the industry usually calls prominence, is the long game: Google says that factor is based on info like how many websites link to your business and how many reviews you have (Google).
So the work is repetitive rather than clever. Get the primary category exactly right, because it carries more weight than almost anything else on the profile. Keep the name, address and phone identical everywhere they appear, since inconsistent details split one business into several weak entities. Earn reviews steadily rather than in bursts. Fill the profile out completely and keep it current. The previous version of this page attached a specific number of directories to the citation work; we have no basis for that figure, so it is not here.
The reason this outranks its reputation is that a complete, accurate profile can beat a business with a stronger website, which is why it is not a box you tick once at setup. It has also quietly become an identity record: it is increasingly what AI systems check to confirm that a local business is real, where it is, and what it does. That makes an accurate profile a prerequisite for AI visibility rather than a separate project, and it is the one genuine overlap between local SEO and AI search. Our Google Business Profile page covers the work in detail.

What owners ask us first.

Paid ads deliver traffic immediately and stop the moment you stop paying. Every click costs money and none of it builds an asset. SEO earns positions that keep returning traffic after the work is done, so cost per lead tends to fall over time while paid cost per lead stays flat or climbs. The trade-off is speed: ads work on day one and SEO does not. Plenty of businesses run both, using ads for immediate leads while the organic foundation builds underneath.

Roughly 60 to 90 days for early movement on lower-competition terms, three to four months for map-pack progress, and six to twelve months of steady work for contested head terms. Technical fixes tend to show movement soonest, because they remove something that was actively blocking the site. Those are expectations, not commitments, and the audit gives you a timeline for your market rather than a generic one. If your business needs leads this month, paid search is the honest answer and we will say so rather than take a retainer we cannot justify.

It depends on whether the value of the keywords you could realistically win exceeds what the work costs, and that turns on your margin, your average customer value, and how well you close inbound leads. Those are your numbers, not ours, and anyone quoting a return multiple before knowing them is guessing. For many local service businesses the math does work, because local searches carry high intent and a defined service area is winnable. For some it does not. The previous version of this answer built a worked example out of invented search volumes, conversion rates and ticket sizes; we would rather run the arithmetic with your real figures during the audit and tell you honestly which one you are.

Regular SEO targets searches with no geographic component, like "best running shoes". Local SEO targets searches tied to a place, like "plumber Cape Coral" or "dentist near me", and it adds a layer the broader discipline does not have: your Google Business Profile, citation consistency, review activity, and location-specific pages. The map pack sits above the organic results and is driven mainly by the profile rather than the website, so a business can rank respectably in organic search and still be invisible in the place the calls actually come from.

The usual causes are a robots.txt rule or noindex tag blocking crawling, pages Google has indexed but does not consider useful, Core Web Vitals failures, a missing or inaccurate Google Business Profile, no links from credible sites, or targeting keywords far beyond what the site can currently compete for. Your own Search Console coverage report will tell you whether you have a crawling problem, an indexing problem or a ranking problem, which are three different problems with three different fixes. A free audit identifies which one is yours.

No. Every engagement is month-to-month, with no minimum term and no cancellation penalty. The previous version of this answer offered a specific client-retention percentage as proof that the arrangement works. That number was never substantiated, so it is not on this page, and the argument stands without it: a long contract mostly shields an agency from its own results. If the work stops producing, you should be free to leave, and knowing you can is what keeps the pressure where it belongs.

The first month is diagnostic and foundational. We run a full technical audit, find what is blocking the site, do keyword and intent research, assess your Google Business Profile against the businesses currently beating you, and map your internal links. The highest-priority technical fixes go in immediately, because those produce the fastest movement. You get a written record of what was found and what changed, and the accounts that evidence lives in are yours, so you can check any of it without asking us.
Jamie Kloncz · SEO Elite Agency, Naples
The free audit answers it. It looks at technical health, where you stand against the businesses actually beating you, your Google Business Profile, your backlink profile, and your visibility across AI engines, and it produces a prioritized list ranked by likely impact. The size of that list is what a fair quote is built on. If your market does not justify a larger scope, we will tell you. If the audit shows SEO is not the right investment for you right now, we will tell you that too, because talking a bad-fit prospect out of a retainer costs us a sale and saves you money.
Jamie Kloncz · SEO Elite Agency, Naples
Yes. We are based in Naples and work with clients across Southwest Florida, statewide, and nationally. The work runs through your website, your Search Console and your Google Business Profile, none of which require us to be in the room. On every location page we state plainly that we are a Naples team rather than implying a local office, because a fabricated local address does not rank a business and would get the profile suspended anyway.
Jamie Kloncz · SEO Elite Agency, Naples
Three things, and none of them are numbers you would have to take on trust. You own the accounts the reporting lives in, so every figure can be checked without asking us. There is no long-term contract. And the person who audits your site is the founder who runs your account, rather than a junior account manager who has never spoken to you. The previous version of this answer also claimed a client count, a retention rate, a number of years in business and a number of industries served. All four were unverifiable and one of them was simply false, so they are gone.
Jamie Kloncz · SEO Elite Agency, Naples
Impressions move first, usually within a few weeks of technical and on-page work, because Google starts showing you for more queries before it ranks you well for them. Position improves next on targeted terms. Clicks follow once you break into the range where people actually click. Calls and forms follow clicks, and that is the only stage that pays for anything. Each step is visible in accounts you control, in something close to real time, and we walk you through reading them in your first monthly report.
Jamie Kloncz · SEO Elite Agency, Naples
No, and no honest agency can, because nobody controls Google. Our terms say it plainly: we do not guarantee specific results such as first-page rankings, traffic increases, or sales performance, because success depends on variables outside anyone's control including competition and algorithm changes. What we commit to is the work and the honesty of the reporting. The previous version of this answer said no, then immediately listed three campaign growth percentages as what it called the honest version of a guarantee. Those numbers had no evidence behind them, which made the answer contradict itself in the space of one paragraph.
Jamie Kloncz · SEO Elite Agency, Naples
The proof we publish is a 5.0 rating on Google from six reviews written by named clients, and our results page is built the same way. That is the honest inventory. The previous version of this page presented three case studies with organic impression growth of several hundred percent each and a named day-count to first page. No verifiable evidence was ever produced for them. The FTC rule on the use of consumer reviews and testimonials makes unsubstantiated results claims a legal matter and not merely an editorial one, and an unverifiable statistic is worth nothing to you regardless, so they were removed rather than reworded.
Jamie Kloncz · SEO Elite Agency, Naples
The common causes are automated tools running with no human strategy, reporting from a dashboard you cannot audit, generic keyword targeting with no intent behind it, technical problems left unaddressed while content work ran on top, or simply not enough hours on the account. Price is a rough proxy for the last one: retainers under about $500 a month rarely fund enough real work, and only around 7% of US, UK and Australian providers price that low (Backlinko, 2026). The previous version of this answer attached specific hour counts to specific cheap price points. We have no data for that, so it is gone. A free audit will tell you what was actually missed.

Core Web Vitals are Google's three page-experience metrics: LCP for how fast the main content loads, INP for how quickly the page responds to interaction, and CLS for how much the layout shifts around. Google says Core Web Vitals are used by its ranking systems, while also saying there is no single page-experience signal and that its core systems look at a variety of signals that align with overall page experience (Google, 2026). The practical reading is that they are real but not decisive: fixing them removes a handicap rather than winning a competitive term on its own. The previous version credited one specific speed fix with one specific page-one ranking date, which was never evidenced.
Jamie Kloncz · SEO Elite Agency, Naples
Schema markup is structured data that tells search engines and AI systems what a page is about: your business type, services, hours, location. It still matters, but the reason has changed and the previous version of this answer had it wrong. It promised eligibility for rich results including FAQ dropdowns and star ratings. Google fully retired the FAQ rich result in May 2026, having limited it to well-known government and health sites since 2023 (Google, 2026). And in one controlled study, adding schema moved AI citations by an amount indistinguishable from zero (Ahrefs, 2026). We deploy structured data because it makes your entity unambiguous and because it is correct, not because it buys a placement. Our schema page covers the distinction.
Jamie Kloncz · SEO Elite Agency, Naples
Largely through the same signals that make you findable and credible anywhere else: content that answers the question directly, an unambiguous entity with consistent details across the web, genuine reviews, and pages an AI crawler can actually read. That last one is a hard technical constraint rather than a preference, because AI crawlers read raw HTML and do not execute JavaScript, so content that only appears after a script runs is invisible to them (Vercel, 2024). Be skeptical of anyone selling a specific lever here. These systems are non-deterministic, the same prompt can return a different answer an hour later, and any single check is a snapshot rather than a measurement. Our GEO page covers how we track it as a trend with its uncertainty stated.

AI Overviews are Google's AI-generated summaries above the organic results. The honest answer to the second half is that you do not optimize for them specifically. Google's own documentation says that to be shown as a supporting link in AI Overviews or AI Mode a page must be indexed and eligible to appear in Search with a snippet, and that there are no additional technical requirements, no special schema.org structured data to add, and no AI text files to create (Google, 2026). The previous version of this answer named a precise share of commercial queries and listed structured data as a requirement for eligibility. The share had no source, and the requirement is contradicted by Google in writing.
