What does it mean if a crawler is blocked?
A Disallow rule in your robots.txt tells that crawler to stay out, and reputable AI crawlers obey it. Blocking a retrieval crawler such as OAI-SearchBot or PerplexityBot removes your content from the systems your buyers ask for recommendations. Sometimes the block is deliberate; often it was added by a security product default nobody reviewed. We found exactly such a default on our own site in July 2026 and removed it, so we check the served file, not assumptions.
My site passed. Does that mean AI engines will cite me?
No, and no honest tool can promise that. Passing means the door is open: crawlers can reach you and your content is readable. Being chosen is a separate contest decided by entity clarity, answer-shaped content and third-party corroboration, which is what our GEO services build. Readability is the entry ticket, not the trophy.
Why does JavaScript dependence matter for AI?
AI crawlers fetch your raw HTML and do not execute JavaScript (Vercel, 2024). If your pages render their content client-side, a human sees a normal site while an AI crawler sees an empty shell. The checker measures the words present in the server response so you know what the machines actually receive.
